The Toronto Raptors verbally agreed on a contract with the New York Knicks’ restricted free agent guard Landry Fields. The details of the 3 year deal are as follows, and they aren’t pretty:

This trade also has ripple effects for the New York Knicks, who were hoping to use Landry Fields in a sign and trade to acquire free agent point guard Steve Nash from the Phoenix Suns:
This deal eliminates the Knicks from the running for Nash, while presumably bringing him one step closer to arriving in Toronto. But even if the Raptors end up missing out on Nash, there could be another free agent point guard that the Raptors may find to be a worthy compensation package:
