Last week I ordered Rockin’ Steady: A Guide to Basketball & Cool by Walt “Clyde” Frazier. Clyde Frazier to me seems like more than just your average former NBA player, he is the essence of 70s cool. While people went to the movies to watch blaxploitation movies with characters such as Dolemite and Shaft, Frazier was the living and breathing embodiment of the era. From the Rolls Royces he’d drive to the Knicks games, to the hats and custom made suits he wore (and continues to wear), Clyde the Glide is the essence of cool.
Sadly the book only comes in physical hardcover or paperback (why dont they call it softcover? never mind…) so after searching to the deepest ends of the internet (always fun) I man’d up and bought the book. I don’t really have a problem with that because it apparently has a lot of cool pictures (which isn’t really that cool on a tablet). Can’t turn the brightness up on a page!
I will never be as good at “basketball” or as “cool”, but I’m going to do my best to read what the master of cool, Clyde Frazier, has to say. And maybe after I’ll be dishing and swishing some cool your way. Get the book here jive turkey
